So, it was the first meetup of the decade and was not a disappointment. We had 27 cars in attendance and were joined by representatives from both Engenie and Octopus. Leanne provided some amazing vegan chocolate chip cookies which were just demolished by the people attending. Even the rain for the last hour couldn’t spoil the chat and conversation.
The first meetup of Oxon EVs was held at Farmoor Reservoir in Oxfordshire. The day was brilliant with plenty of great chat and cake.
The 4th EVs in the park was an amazing success with more than 230 cars in attendance. The field in Coventry War memorial park was almost completely full. This was a brilliant event, organised by Craig Tonge of the Renault Zoe and ZE Owners Group.
The 7th meetup was held again at Withdean Sports complex. This time we used the East entrance overflow car park which we had almost completely to ourselves. This event was also used to mark the 1st birthday of the club and also the club winning the trophy for Best Electric Vehicle Club 2019. It was a great day out with lots of chat and lots of cake. In total we had around forty cars in attendance including two Tesla Model 3’s and a gen 1 Roadster. There was also a rather lovely orange iPace.
The first ever Electric Vehicle Festival was held on the 28th July at the British motor museum in Gaydon, Warwickshire. In spite of the poor weather early on, the turnout was exceptional. More than 150 cars on display and lots of great conversation with the general public. For a first outing, the professionalism of the event was excellent. This should prove to be a great annual event for the community to get involved in. Massive thanks to Paul Middlicott for organising this. Very well done.
What an absolutely amazing, fulfilling time we had at FCL 2019. @B_McBeardface (Jon from KentEVs) managed to organise for us to have a stand at the event and we met lots of great people. We dispelled many myths and made many friends. My star car of the show was the converted Delorean. I am sure we all had our own favourites.
